The world’s first Bitcoin job fair will be held Saturday, May 3 from 1 pm to 5 pm at the Plug and Play Tech Center in Sunnyvale, California – the heart of Silicon Valley, home of some of the largest technology companies.
Bitcoin and digital currency enthusiasts who are looking to jump start their Bitcoin career are encouraged to attend the event. The job fair is free for job seekers and will provide the opportunity to speak with leading cryptocurrency and cryptoequity experts and firms who will also be advertising job opportunities that pay in Bitcoin. It’s being hosted by Bitcoin entrepreneur Andreas Antonopoulos, Plug and Play Tech Center, and Coinality.
“Opportunities to develop products and services around cryptocurrencies are on a remarkable rise. Coinality, the organizer and a leading job/resume board for job opportunities that pay exclusively in digital currency says in the eight months since its inception, it has already registered more than 2,000 users, received over 600 job submissions, hosts over 250 resumes, and has served over 1,800 job applications,” read the job fair’s press release.
The job fair website listed examples of a few open positions that companies are looking to fill. BitPay is hiring software and front-end engineers, CryptoTrustPoint.com is seeking a CTO, Kraken is looking for front-end and software developers as well as support specialists, and HolyTransaction.com is hiring programmers and developers.
Employers who will be present at the event include: BitPay, 37Coins, Kraken, BitGive, HolyTransaction, Purse.io, CryptoTrustPoint, BitWage.co, CounterParty.co, PrivateInternetAccess, XAPO, GoCoin, CoinTrust, CrowdCurity, and Vaurum among others. Sponsors include: BitPay, 500Startups, Boost, Kraken, Blockscore, Blockchain.info, Circle, GoCoin, and PrivateInternetAccess.
The job fair will also see prominent digital currency personalities in attendance, such as Dan Roseman, Coinality’s founder, Bitcoin entrepreneur Andreas Antonopoulos, and Scott Robinson, head of the Plug and Play Tech Center’s Bitcoin Accelerator program.

Wanted Analytics reported that in March 2014, about 1,880 job ads were posted online for the terms “digital currency,” “bitcoin,” and “cryptocurrency,” which is a 9 percent increase over the same time frame in 2013. From January 2012 to July 2012, the number of job ads grew 472 percent.
Visa had the highest number of job listings advertising to recruit those knowledgeable in Bitcoin, and other companies with the most hiring demand include Amazon, Time Warner, CITI, SunTrust Banks, and MeetMe. According to the research performed by Wanted Analytics, the most in-demand Bitcoin jobs are for marketing managers, software applications developers and management analysts.
There’s no doubt that the Bitcoin and blockchain technology is still in a stage of infancy, and if their current state is to be compared to the beginnings of the internet itself, career opportunities exist that every tech-loving job seeker should be hurling themselves toward.
