DuckDuckGo introduces blockchain searching

Internet search engine DuckDuckGo has announced a new feature allowing users to search the bitcoin blockchain. The data is provided by BitEasy, a startup which provides developers an API that can be used to read the blockchain.

The news comes shortly after Google added bitcoin price conversion to its search engine.

DuckDuckGo users can now look up the balance of a bitcoin address and view transactions. The search engine also lets users look up information on a specific block by searching for its hash. This information includes the block’s size, hash, fees, reward, and time solved.

DuckDuckGo focuses strongly on searchers’ privacy, and does not log user data. It attracts nearly 5,000,000 searches per day.
