LeoVegas Casino may feel like a UK casino brand. After all, its advertising once dominated UK TV screens and it’s incredibly popular in this country. However, the site was actually founded in Sweden way back in 2011, and since then it has steadily expanded to gambling regions around the world. It has a sportsbook and a casino, and it welcomes tens of thousands of players every day, making it one of the biggest sites in Europe.

LeoVegas Casino has been on the Coinbuzz radar for many years, but because it doesn’t accept Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, I have never actually reviewed it. That changes now though. I’ve been a member for a long time. I have a lot of experience on this site, and I’m eager to share my thoughts with you in this LeoVegas Casino review.

Basics

One of my biggest pet peeves is when casinos try to make their desktop sites look like a mobile site. LeoVegas has done this to an extent, but it doesn’t rely on annoying mobile menus and has created an aesthetic that actually works.

On desktop, you’re greeted with a panel that sits in the middle of the screen and displays all of the information, including the thumbnails for the casino games and the many categories that can help you to narrow everything down. On either side, you’ll see an ever-changing graphic, one that serves to add some scenery and create a very warming and welcoming aesthetic.

If this was it, I would be pretty indifferent to it, but the great thing about it is that when you load a game, it opens in the middle of the screen while the back panels change to something that represents the game. And I don’t just mean an awkwardly placed graphic akin to casinos like Space Lilly. I mean a beautiful landscape that is complementary and inviting.

On mobile, it looks ever better, and both the LeoVegas casino and sportsbooks look fantastic on smaller screens.

Software and Games

LeoVegas Casino has always been a great place to play NetEnt and Yggdrasil Gaming titles and that remains to be the case. This was actually the site that introduced me to many of the best games created by these developers, so my only personal experiences may have skewed that, but it could also be that the site devotes more space to these developers.

They are all from Sweden, after all.

It has a lot of jackpot slots and you will also find some must-fall jackpot games, whereby the jackpots are coded to pay out before a specific time and won’t just run on for many weeks or months like many progressive jackpots do.

As soon as you join LeoVegas, you’ll be given a bonus of 10 Free Spins. It’s a no deposit bonus, so you don’t need to deposit any cash to collect, but once you’ve used the spins and made a real money transaction, you can get a £50 cash deposit bonus along with a batch of 20 Free Spins. It sounds like a decent bonus but it is actually very limited, because you can only get £10, £25, or £50, with corresponding deposits for each. The £50 cap also looks very weak when compared to the thousands being offered on CloudBet and other top casinos.

Another area where LeoVegas Casino is a little lacking is its Loyalty Bonuses, or its unprompted Loyalty Bonuses, to be specific.

If you spend a lot of time and money at a casino or sportsbook, you’ll notice that a little bonus cash appears in your account from time to time. The more you spend there, the more frequently this happens. Most of the time, you don’t even need to be a member of the newsletter or visit through any special links, although you will need to accept the offer or opt-in to the promotion.

Take bet365 as an example. I drop by every now and then to play some casino games, but I also gamble stupid amounts of money on the site’s sportsbook. The fact that it has live streams of snooker games makes it my go-to place to watch and wager on snooker, and I do that way more than I should.

Every time I click on the “My Bonuses” section, there are offers waiting for me. There are Free Bets, Bonus Credits, and on the casino side of things there are also Free Spins. They’re rarely big, and are usually limited to just £10 or £20, but it’s free, it’s unexpected, and it’s a good way for a site to show its appreciation and reward me for my loyalty.

I don’t spend a lot of money on LeoVegas Casino, but still, I don’t recall this ever happening. After looking at some user reviews, it seems that I am not alone, and there are several disgruntled high rollers complaining that they gamble a lot of money on the site and have never been offered any extras.

If you read these reviews out of context, they might seem a little entitled. After all, who leaves a bad review just because a site won’t give you free stuff? But it’s perfectly understandable in an industry that gives free stuff away all of the time.

If you visit a coffee shop every day for a year and spend £50+ there each time, you expect to be tossed a free flapjack every now and then. When it doesn’t happen, and you learn that every other coffee shop is giving their customers freebies, you have a right to be annoyed.

Payment Options

LeoVegas Casino has a minimum deposit of £10 and offers a variety of payment methods. These tend to change based on your location, but if you’re in the United Kingdom you can use bank transfers, PayPal, Paysafecard, Skrill, and Neteller. A withdrawal should take just a couple of days to reach your account and LeoVegas Casino have always been very good in this department, with web wallets usually being processed on the same day.

As for the withdrawal limit, there isn’t actually one listed on the website and I couldn’t get a response out of LeoVegas Casino to confirm this. It has been listed elsewhere as varying from £4,000 to £10,000 per day, which means it’s much higher than the likes of Fezbet Casino and Sportsbook, but is less than many other major UK gambling sites.

What the Terms and Conditions does make very clear is that there are limitations on the amount of money that you can win in the sportsbook. It doesn’t seem to be the case for the casino (although specific games will have their own withdrawal limits) but it’s unusual to see this for such a big UK sports betting site.

It states, for instance, that the limits range from £25,000 to £150,000 per bet, depending on the event. That may seem like a lot of money, and it definitely is, but there are sites out there that release amounts in excess of £500,000 through accumulators, and this rule would prevent LeoVegas Casino from doing that.

In fact, even if you stake £1,000 on a 26/1 shot, you could find yourself on the wrong side of those limits. It’s not something that will ever affect me, as I don’t gamble anywhere near that amount, nor do I go big with accumulators, but there is a small number of gamblers who will be put off by it.

Then again, if you’re a high roller, you should probably be sticking with sites like William Hill, which have more established sportsbooks.

These are actually quite common in the gambling industry and they are usually nothing to worry about, but it’s shocking just how many of them seem to be about LeoVegas Casino.

A few weeks later, there was another one, and over the course of a couple of years, I saw the LeoVegas name more times than I can count.

I can’t recall all of those stories, but a quick Google search tells me that they have been in trouble a couple of times for problem gambling issues. They have also been fined by the Dutch authorities for offering gambling services without a license.

Is this a big problem? Not at all. We’re talking about a massive company that has experienced some immense growth over the last few years. A lot has changed within the organisation and within the gambling industry itself, and it only takes one minor oversight, technical glitch, or careless employee to create a problem that causes chaos and leads to fines.

The good news is that LeoVegas Casino has been very professional in the way that it has dealt with these issues. It also has a great customer support team, so while there might have been a few oversights in the past, it’s an issue that doesn’t seem to exist anymore.

I have had a lot of bad experiences with customer support teams in the gambling industry. Take a look at my Betfair review for a prime example of this. I will admit that I have had less dealings with LeoVegas customer support team than I’ve had elsewhere, but the ones I have had were very positive. What’s more, the fact that I’ve had very few reasons to contact the support team, even though I have been a member for a long time, is also a good sign.

Many other users seem to have similar experiences with LeoVegas Casino. I have seen a few reviews complaining about the lack of bonuses, as discussed already, and there are also complaints from players who say that they don’t win enough. The latter is not a valid complaint, as LeoVegas Casino doesn’t create the games and everything it releases is fully audited and fair. The former, however, definitely is a legitimate complaint and it’s something that really shouldn’t exist on a casino of this size.

It should also be noted that the site’s support was a little slow during 2020 and 2021, and Live Chat was also offline during a lot of this period. But I’m willing to give them a pass on that, considering the circumstances.

LeoVegas is a massively popular online gambling destination that deserves every ounce of the respect that it receives. It’s not really the biggest sportsbook and if you’re here purely to place bets, you may be better off taking your money elsewhere, but the casino is great and it’s always good to have the option for a few sports bets.

It is disappointing that the site doesn’t do more with its loyalty bonuses, and it’s Welcome Bonus is just as disappointing, but I recommend joining, collecting the bonus, and seeing if the site is for you. There are certainly better sites out there if you’re looking for long-term rewards, but it still has its benefits.
