William Hill is one of the biggest gambling brands in the world. Located in the United Kingdom, it has been going strong since the 1930s, initially beginning as a sportsbook and then venturing into other areas, including an online casino, poker room, and bingo room. It provides a safe and secure gambling experience for players across the United Kingdom and is also available in a variety of regions around the world.

it has been going strong since the 1930s

In this William Hill Casino review, we’ll take a closer look at the site’s services, support, bonuses, games, and more. We’ll see how it compares to other major gambling sites like SlotsHeaven and whether it’s worth your time or not.

Basics

William Hill Casino has licenses from the authorities of the United Kingdom, Malta, and Gibraltar. It seems like overkill, especially when you consider that the majority of casinos work with just one developer, but there is method to this madness!

The UK Gambling Commission allows William Hill Casino to operate throughout the United Kingdom, which is where William Hill is best-known. The Malta Gaming Authority and Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association give the brand access to many markets in Europe and elsewhere. That’s not all, either, as William Hill has been using its massive reach and vast reputation to expand into a variety of other areas, as discussed further down.

As with most UK gambling destinations, especially those with sportsbooks, William Hill’s casino games are separated into several different sections:

  • Games
  • Casino
  • Vegas
  • Live Casino

I’ve always been fascinated as to why major betting sites do this, as three of those sections (Casino, Games, and Vegas) basically include the same type of games and, in many cases, they have exactly the same games. Generally, the Casino section is reserved for more table games and other traditional casino titles, whereas Games and Vegas focus on bonus slots, jackpot slots, and more.

If you’re here for the slot games, focus on Vegas first and then move over to Games if you can’t find what you’re looking for. If you prefer traditional table games, numbers games, and wheel-based games, stick with the Casino and Live Casino sections.

It’s all a little confusing and unnecessary, and it’s made even more confusing by the fact that you can also find slots in the Bingo section. But the good news is that you will find a few subcategories on each of these sections and these will help you to navigate the site and find the type of games that you’re looking for.

Software and Games

William Hill Casino is a very neatly-arranged website and uses software that allows for simple and fast navigation whether you’re playing on mobile or desktop and whether you’re placing sports bet or playing slots.

The actual games are provided by developers like Playtech, Microgaming, NetEnt, Blueprint Gaming, and IGT, with Live Dealer titles from the masters at Evolution Gaming. There are also some exclusive games here, ones that you won’t find anywhere else.

As noted above, you will need to navigate through a few different parts of the site and use a variety of categories, but you’ll get there eventually and you will find an abundance of top titles on the way. William Hill Casino is very adept when it comes to jackpot games, helped in no small part by the inclusion of Playtech.

Microgaming is often considered to be the biggest and best when it comes to progressive jackpots, but once you discount Mega Moolah, Microgaming begins to look pretty tame when compared to the variety offered by Playtech.

There is the Age of the Gods jackpot system, the DC Super Heroes jackpot, and the Fire Blaze jackpots. You can win huge sums of money every time you spin, and that’s the beauty of progressive jackpot slots.

William Hill Casino has a pretty good selection of table games, as well, including Speed Blackjack, Cashback Blackjack, French Roulette, American Roulette, Age of the Gods Roulette, 101 Roulette, and more. If you fancy a few games of Bingo or Poker, just click on the relevant sections at the top of the William Hill Casino homepage.

The bingo games run every few minutes and there are dozens of them out there, including lots of Slingo titles. The Poker section needs to be downloaded, which is a bit of a pain, but there are some good games, lots of players, and a variety of stakes to choose from.

Bonuses and Promotions

As a new William Hill Casino player, you can collect a Buy in Bonus of up to £300. It is released in the form of a 100% Matched Deposit Bonus and is offered to all new players who make a first-time deposit of at least £10. You need to opt-in to qualify and there is a maximum redeemable amount of £2,000.

This means that if you’re lucky enough to scoop a big win of £10,000 and somehow make it through the wagering requirements with this money intact, you will need to forfeit that £8,000 and only £2,000 can be withdrawn.

It’s a bit of a downer when casinos limit players in this manner, but it’s better than nothing and I’m sure that most players would be happy to turn a £300 Welcome Bonus into a £2,000 withdrawal!

It’s also much better than the limiting terms on casinos like Stake.

The withdrawal limits are fixed at 40x and must be cleared within 7 days. This means that a deposit of £100, which results in a bonus of £100, will require a £4,000 total wager before any of the money can be withdrawn.

If the balance falls below £0.35 at any point, the bonus will end. More importantly, and more worryingly, the bonus is not available for players who deposit using e-wallets. It’s a common exception and it’s also a very frustrating one, as the bulk of modern casino players use these methods.

Payment Options

There are usually two big benefits to playing at a major online casino compared to a smaller and lesser-known brand.

The first is that you’re generally not limited by withdrawal restrictions. This is especially true for UK-based online casinos and it is definitely true for William Hill Casino, where there are no such limits in place. It makes for a stark contrast when compared to Cadoola Casino and other sites with very small withdrawal limits. High rollers are free to spend as much as they want and play as often as they want, and that’s great news.

More importantly, it means you don’t have to spread your withdrawals over several weeks or months if you’re lucky enough to strike it rich.

The other benefit is the superfast withdrawals. Many of the smaller sites we have covered take several days to process your winnings.

This is true for a lot of sites that we didn’t like all that much, but it’s also true for ones that we loved, like Slots Palace (click onto our Slots Palace Casino Review for more info).

Unfortunately, William Hill Casino is not in this category. The pending times are often listed as being anywhere from 24 to 72 hours, which is very poor. In my experience, it’s not quite that slow. If I withdraw money this afternoon, it will likely appear in my account before tomorrow afternoon, assuming both days are working days. But of course, that only applies for PayPal and other web wallets, and you will need to wait a little longer if you’re using debit cards.

Paysafecard, Neosurf, bank transfers, Visa, and Mastercard are all accepted, and there is a full list of options at the bottom of this page.

Players in certain locations can use William Hill Cash Direct. It essentially works like Paysafecard, only you purchase directly from William Hill locations. Just drop into one of their betting shops, make a cash purchase, and you will be given a voucher. You can then add this to your William Hill account via the “William Hill Cash Direct” icon.

William Hill USA

The US online gambling industry is in its infancy, but a few major European brands have been trying to muscle their way into the market and William Hill is one such brand. In fact, William Hill has been in the United States for a number of years now and has struck deals with local authorities and major land-based casinos to offer sports betting on location and on mobile.

That doesn’t mean that you can gamble from the United States, though. It also doesn’t give you access to the brand’s casino. It just means that you can use William Hill sports betting services in a handful of states, providing you’re actually in that region at the time. You may also need to wait until you are in a licensed casino. The laws differ from state to state, though, and it’s vitally important that you understand your rights before going any further.

Of course, it helps that Caesars Entertainment agreed to buy William Hill in 2020, potentially giving it direct access to the US market.

User Reviews

William Hill Casino has been around for a long-time, and it has accumulated lots of negative reviews in that time. It is to be expected for a site as old and as big as this, but the good news is that the majority of these reviews complain about bonuses, slow withdrawals, player oversights, misunderstandings, and losing streaks. In other words, it’s not really anything that the casino can prevent, and is something you will find on all online gambling sites.

One of the ways that William Hill can deal with the issue is to respond to negative reviews and complaints left on third-party sites. As mentioned in reviews like that for Horus Casino, it’s very important for a site to respond to its customers and to help them. Not only does it reduce the amount of bad reviews that appear in the first place, but it encourages users to remove them and also prevents additional ones from appearing.

Unfortunately, while William Hill Casino does have a dedicated customer support team, it doesn’t put it to good use when dealing with third-party website reviews and complaints.

As noted in the “William Hill USA” section of our review, the WH brand has ventured stateside and it has been setting up shop there for a number of years. Check your local laws before visiting the site or trying to use the services.

Final Thoughts

William Hill is a massive online gambling site, and that’s not hyperbole by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, while the Casino side of things is the main focus of this review, Bingo is a great example of just how vast it is. The Bingo site is probably one of the least popular and smallest areas of William Hill. At the same time, however, it eclipses many Bingo-centric websites, with more rooms, more stakes, and bigger prizes.

I have reviewed hundreds of casinos, poker rooms, sportsbooks, and bingo sites in my time and I am confident that William Hill Casino can beat most of them. Its casino might not be as vast as BitStarz, its sportsbook can’t compete with the biggest exchanges (in my opinion, at least) and I think that a certain PokerStars has the edge when it comes to Texas Hold’em, but on the whole, when all of these things are combined, William Hill Casino is hard to beat.

This is one of the few sites that I return to on a regular basis. I love WH and play there all of the time. I also use the WH sports book and it is one of my faves.

The casino isn’t the biggest, but I trust them and that’s the most important thing to me. Countless times in the past I have had issues with online casinos and sportsbooks and they have refused to listen and help me. There is nothing more gut-wrenching than winning big, trying to withdraw, and then being suspended for no reason or have your verification rejected for no reason. Sure, these things usually get sorted in the end, but it detracts from the exerience.

I have had those kind of issues with most sites, including bet365 and Betfair. But I have never had them with WH and that’s why it’s the one that I use the most.

Always been a favourite of mine and one that I would recommend to everyone. I use all aspects of WilliamHill, including the casino and sportsbook. I also like the watch the streams here as they seem to work a little better than other sites in the UK.

Same here, and I am still using them a year down the line. Surprised there aren’t as many comments on this one as they are fantastic.

Thanks for the info on the USA side of things. A lot of sites don’t include that info and it can be confusing. I personally love William Hill and I am happy to see it’s one of the brands with a stake in the growing US gambling sector.
